During my family’s latest visit to Hollywood Studios we tried out a restaurant that we’ve never been to previously. Any guess where we dined? If you guessed Woody’s Roundup, you’re correct! We were super excited that we finally secured a reservation.

We knew that there would be so much fun theming for us (and the kids!) while eating here but this dining experience far surpassed our expectations in several ways! The food was without a doubt the best food on property that I’ve had and the attention to detail was spectacular.

One of the main reasons we enjoyed Roundup Rodeo BBQ so much was because everyone in our family was able to partake. I have a digestive disease which can be tricky when surrounded by theme park food and finding something that’s not going to bother my stomach and my youngest child has severe food allergies.

We usually prepare and bring his food to the parks as to not risk any accidental reactions or cross contamination, but at Roundup, the cast members assured us of their safe food handling and my child was able to enjoy the delicious food with us.

With so many delicious menu options to choose from there’s sure to be something for everyone! Whether you just want a break from the heavy, greasy theme park foods or you’re vegan or have other special dietary needs, this restaurant may just be a great option!

Roundup Rodeo menu options

Woody’s menu is probably best described as a backyard barbeque type foods served family style. There’s an array of bbq meats such as Evil Dr. Smoked Ribs, Buttercup’s Beef Brisket, Sausage in My Boot and bbq chicken. Or if you’re not a big meat person or vegan there’s Trixie’s Plant Based Trio which includes Combat Carloflower, Rip Roarin rib chop and Scrumptious Bratwurst.

It can be hard to find vegan options on Disney property so Trixie’s Trio is a great choice for anyone following a plant based diet.

The Prospector’s Homemade Cheddar Biscuits with sweet pepper jelly may sound like a strange combo but they were seriously so good. The jam tastes just like it sounds. Kind of like a sweet salsa. While these biscuits are not vegan, they were very, very good. Vegan friends, don’t worry, they have a vegan roll option they can bring out on request. They are kid approved, my son gobbled them up!

Sides

While the meat may be a main course for many, there were lots of side options to chow down on as well. Wheezy’s watermelon salad and the Rootin tootin tomato salad were so simple, fresh and good. They really hit the spot on a hot day in the parks and are a nice healthy option. (which is rare for theme park food)

The Claw veggie slaw was a star of the meal for me. It was vegan but had a creamy type base vs. a vinegar type base. I’m not sure how they did it but it seriously tasted just like regular cole-slaw. My diet is egg free so it’s been a while since I’ve had amazing slaw that I could actually eat.

There’s also baked beans and corn on the cobb as well as Slinky’s mac and cheese. While the mac and cheese was not dairy free (as to be expected) two of my children were able to eat it as well and my husband.

The potato Barrels (tator tots) were my son’s favorite. He loves a good tator tot and was thrilled to be able to order some in a restaurant. They were nice and crispy on the outside and hot and fluffy on the inside.

Desserts

There were plenty of desserts to choose from. Each person in our party got to pick out their own individual dessert, which made everyone happy! I tried Gruff’s Peach-Strawberry pie and it was absolutely delicious and refreshing! Honestly, I was just so happy to have a plant based dessert option for my son and I. It was kind of like pie filling stuffed into a little mason jar. Yum!

My other kiddos chose Cupcake a la Forky and they really thought it was so cute and fun. It is a chocolate cupcake with a Forky cookie on top. So cute! (What did I tell you about that theming!)

Navigating Allergies

I mentioned that this restaurant was a great fit for our family’s allergy needs. While Disney does a great job of letting people know what’s in their food and does their best to accommodate everyone, this experience was truly above and beyond.

Once we were seated we spoke with our server, who was wonderful by the way. He took his time and informed us which foods would be safe for both me and my son based on our individual health needs.

The server helped us order and went over the kitchen’s food handling with us to ensure there would be no risk of cross-contamination. He explained everything down to the separate utensils they use for each food dish.

Once our food started arriving, he had each dish marked accordingly to our family’s needs. For example, foods safe for me had one tooth pick inserted and foods safe for my son had two tooth pics as to not mix up any food at the table.

I can’t tell you what a relief it was to know that the kitchen and server were thoroughly trained and prepared on how to accommodate us. My son got to enjoy his first meal served by a restaurant and he loved every second of it.

Not only was this food fresh and so delicious but I’m so happy to see a theme park offer a variety of foods for everyone. It can be hard to navigate theme park food if you have special dietary needs and while Disney does typically do a great job of communicating what ingredients are in their foods, it was just nice to know that they had good, wholesome foods that we all could enjoy. We will definitely be back!
