Disney Packing List

It’s time to haul your luggage out of storage and start thinking about what you need to make your Disney World vacation more comfortable.

No doubt you’ve seen packing lists that are pages long, but do you really need everything and your kitchen sink? The simple answer is no.

But you DO need some important essentials, which is what we’re discussing here.

How to Pack for a Disney Trip

Do yourself a favor and think through your typical weekend day. What do you wear, and use?

Chances are good that you wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and probably use the same products daily.

Those items are a great place to start when packing!

Here’s a simplified list of things you’ll want to add to your bag for your Orlando trip.

Comfortable Shoes

If you want to avoid “Disney feet,” heed our recommendations for the best shoes to wear to Disney World.

Because you’re going to be walking A LOT, your feet will make or break your vacation. Be sure to take good care of them with comfortable shoes that are already broken-in.

Clothing

It’s always a good idea to pack comfortable clothing, since you’ll be so active during the day.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t look cute! We have a list of fun Disney family shirts you can wear, and we love these Disney leggings.

We’ve also written dedicated articles for what to wear during specific times of the year, if you need some suggestions:

First Aid Items

Blisters are a common occurrence at Disney World, especially when people don’t wear comfortable shoes!

Follow our tips for preventing blisters at Disney World and include a few additional items in your first aid kit. You’ll want the typical items, like bandaids and some ibuprofen or acetaminophen.

Keep in mind that Disney World has First Aid Stations in each park, so you really don’t need to bring every possible item–just the basics here.

Sunscreen

Trust me when I say you will burn faster and easier in Florida than you will in many other parts of the country.

It’s important to pack sunscreen for your vacation, so you don’t spend your days writhing and wincing in pain.

If you don’t already have favorites, here are some of mine.

The Hint pineapple sunscreen smells heavenly and doesn’t choke you with fumes when you use it.

This sunscreen stick is by far the easiest way to protect my kids’ faces, and the Anthelios sunscreen is the only kind my own sensitive skin can tolerate on my face.

Rain Gear

Yes, you can still have fun at Disney World in the rain! But it requires some gear to help keep you dry.

Pop-up showers are quite common in Orlando, so we always recommend having one of these ponchos for Disney.

Miscellaneous Items

Here are a few other essentials you’ll want to include on your Disney packing list:

  • Prescriptions and daily medications/vitamins
  • Grooming products
  • A park bag – we recommend one of these backpacks for Disney or one of our favorite Disney fanny packs.
  • Baby & toddler items- If you’re doing Disney with toddlers or babies, you’ll want to pack diapers, wipes, extra pacifiers, special bedtime or comfort items, small blankets, bottles, formula, pack-n-play, stroller, or whatever other items your little one needs.
  • Swim suits
  • Pool shoes

Disney Park Bag Essentials

These essentials vary according to the ages and needs of your travel party, so use your best judgement here as to what you need to put on your own Disney packing list.

We have a whole list of what to bring to Disney World to help get you started.

One thing to keep in mind is that every park at Walt Disney World has lockers that you can rent to put rain gear, jackets, and extra items that you don’t want to carry all day.

Budget $10 a day for this extra comfort and you’ll ease stress a bit knowing items are there when you need them.

Your bag will depend on your preferences but typical park day bags include diaper bags, cute mini backpacks, or a crossbody bag for Disney world.

Put these things in your park bag for a stress-free day:

  • Water bottle clips or straps– hydration is key during long park days, even during the cooler months. Having a water bottle clip or strap is an easy way to tote around a water bottle.
  • Your phone- you’ll need access to the My Disney Experience app for tickets, to get last-minute Disney dining reservations, and for planning your shows and attractions.
  • ID & medical card- these are always smart to have on you when you’re traveling, just in case!
  • Lip balm
  • A cooling towel and personal misting fan– if needed during the time of year you’re traveling. These can be a great way to stay cool at Disney!
  • Hand sanitizer- Gel or spray sanitizer for older kids/adults or wipes for little hands.
  • Snacks- great to hand out while you are waiting in lines.
  • Sunscreen and First Aid items

I hope this list of packing and park bag essentials for your Walt Disney World vacation helped.

The biggest thing to remember is that, although you want to be prepared, you can always get anything you forget by easily hopping in an Uber or visiting a shop on property.
