Disney World in March is one of the most beautiful times of year to visit!
The weather is nicer than in the previous months and Spring has definitely arrived in March, along with the Flower & Garden Festival.
It’s the perfect time to shake off those winter days that might still be hanging on in other parts of the country and enjoy the sunshine.
Disney World in March
When I was a child, before we lived in Florida and could visit regularly, we always planned a trip to Disney World in March.
Not only could we enjoy the theme parks, but we also used the opportunity to take in some Spring Training baseball games.
Our vacation usually coincided with my birthday, which we always celebrated by enjoying ice cream at the Ghirardelli Soda Shop in Disney Springs (known as Downtown Disney back when I was a kid!).
For some school districts, Spring Break falls in March, making it an ideal time to visit.
Whatever the reason, if you’re planning a trip to Disney World in March, you’re in good company!
I have gathered everything you need to know about what to pack for your March Disney World trip, what the weather is like, and some ideas of what to wear to Disney World in March.

Disney World Weather in March
It’s important to be prepared for all weather conditions, because March can be so unpredictable.
You may have warm, sunny skies, or you may have windy, rainy days.
The weather in Orlando is typically a comfortable temperature during the day, and cooler at night during this time of year, but as I mentioned, the unpredictability means anything’s possible.
The average high for March at Disney World is 78°F, the average low is 58°F, and there are usually only 3 rainy days during the month of March.
As you can see, March is a great time to visit the Disney Parks!
Make sure you’ve checked the forecast before packing your bag and remember that if it is cool out at night, you’ll want to pack a light sweater or jacket.
Packing for Disney World in March
Knowing what to pack for a March visit to Disney World theme parks can be a little tricky, because the temperatures vary so much from day to night.
Just because it seems hot during the day doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be prepared just in case it rains or gets cool at night!
Having ponchos in your suitcase doesn’t take up a ton of room, but if the weather looks dicey it’s nice to have them in your bag.
If you don’t want to tote everything around in your backpack for Disney World, take advantage of the lockers located in each park. Guests can store their extra belongings, jackets, ponchos, umbrellas, and magical souvenirs here.

What to Wear to Disney World in March
Having lived in and visited Central Florida for several years now, I have learned a thing or two about what to wear to the parks in April.

Comfortable Shoes
Comfortable shoes are one of the most important things you can pack!
Wearing the wrong shoes can make your vacation a painful one, so it’s important to pick some that are supportive and feel good on your feet.
You may want to opt for closed-toed shoes, like athletic shoes, that are comfortable for walking several miles each day. The weather may be warm enough for comfortable sandals, but steer clear of cheap flip-flops.

A Jacket, Sweatshirt, or Sweater
Since the temperature can fluctuate widely, you’ll want to dress in layers.
I suggest choosing something that has a little bit of weight to it, but that’s easy to roll into your backpack, tie around your waist, or store in your locker.
Yes, you can always buy one in a gift shop if needed, but if you’re trying to trim the cost of your Disney World vacation, I recommend bringing one you already have!
Comfortable Shirts
Since you’re layering, you may want to stick with a comfortable short-sleeve or sleeveless shirt to wear under your jacket, so you don’t get too hot.
I prefer looser, more flowy shirts for keeping cool when it’s warm, or athletic shirts are another safe option.
You could even do matching family t-shirts for Disney!
Shorts, Pants, or Leggings
Chances are pretty good that at least some days of your trip will be warm enough to wear shorts, so check the forecast ahead of time to see if it’s worth packing some.
But since it will be cooler in the mornings and evenings, you’ll probably want to pack some comfortable pants or leggings, too (check out our favorite Disney leggings–they’re SO cute!).
I prefer leggings rather than jeans this time of year, because they don’t get as hot during the day (and who doesn’t love stretchy pants?!).
Rain Poncho
March is one of those months that includes just about every type of weather possible: rain showers, sunny days, and chilly evenings.
I remember one month when my parents spent our entire souvenir budget on ponchos and windbreakers because we really weren’t prepared for the cool, rainy weather.
So do yourself a favor and pack smart, including bringing a rain poncho along.
Whether you want inexpensive disposable ponchos or something that’s built to last, we have a list of our favorite ponchos for Disney World to help you choose.
What to Pack for Disney in March
In addition to clothes, here are a few more things you won’t want to forget when you’re packing for your upcoming vacation!
First Aid Essentials
It’s always a good idea to pack some essentials like bandages, ointment, blister prevention and relief items, and a few pain relievers.
Hand wipes and sanitizer is a must to help fight off germs, even though Disney does a good job of supplying hand sanitizer lately.
Having access to these items can make a huge difference when you or someone in your group is feeling sick, sunburned, tired, or comes down with a case of Disney Rash!
Sunscreen
Did you know that you can get sunburned even when it’s cloudy outside? It’s true!
Do yourself a favor and pack some sunscreen so you don’t spend the rest of your trip looking like a lobster.
You may already have some preferred sunscreens for your family–if so, bring those with you. If not, these three are my favorites.
The Hint pineapple sunscreen smells heavenly and doesn’t choke you with fumes when you use it.
This sunscreen stick is by far the easiest way to protect my kids’ faces, and the Anthelios sunscreen is the only kind my own sensitive skin can tolerate on my face.
Water Bottle
Bringing a refillable water bottle is a great way to stay cool at Disney World.
You can get free cups of ice water from any quick service restaurant in the park, then pour the water into your bottle for easy transport.
The Perfect Bag for Disney
Having a great, wearable bag for stashing all your stuff during the day is an important part of your attire in the parks!
If you’re traveling to Disney World with toddlers, a larger bag can be used and stowed in the bottom of your stroller, or you may prefer to bring one of our favorite backpacks for Disney.
With kiddos in tow, I suggest having a change of clothes for them and pack an extra zip-lock bag to put their dirty outfits in after your day at the park.
Snacks, a cup, diapers, wipes, sunscreen and of course ponchos for everyone are a must-have.
If you’ll be packing light, you may prefer one of these fanny packs for Disney World.
Even with a small bag, you can add a water bottle hook to your bag, then toss in the essentials, like your medical card, bank card, and ID, poncho, a small sunblock and a small first aid kit.
